As a contractor you don't always get to see how easy your code is to maintain in the longer term. I try to keep in touch with former colleagues and managers to ask about this, as it's important to keep improving your work. I know that First Direct is still using code I wrote 20 years ago, so that's encouraging!
Mike had previously worked at FMG as a contract developer on a transformation project. The quality and professionalism of Mike meant that we extended him several times after this initial project was completed to work on other projects. Due to his previous excellent work, I didn't hesitate to ask Mike back to help deliver a large high profile project with dates that couldn't slip earlier this year.
